Legion Members Volunteer in their Communities and Make a Difference Every Day
April 10 through 16 is National Volunteer Week, an opportunity to thank volunteers and to recognize their contributions. At the Legion, we have a LOT of volunteers to thank... nearly 300,000!!
Our membership is one of the largest volunteer groups in the country, committing millions of volunteer hours each year. At its heart, the Legion is a grassroots organization that has its greatest impact through volunteer, community-based activities. Although a key focus of the work we do is to honour and support Canada’s Veterans, the Legion grew from a history of service. Today, we continue that tradition by volunteering in our communities, helping to build a stronger Canada.
As the cornerstone of communities across the country, our members provide essential services and supports to help Veterans and their families, seniors, youth and those in need. Legion Branches are volunteer run and in some communities serve as the primary community centre. We also work hard to ensure Canada never forgets those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
Supporting Veterans, honouring our Fallen, and helping our community is what we do. Today and every day we thank all Legion members for their support and their contributions.
Through the Legion, there are many ways to get involved and volunteer in your community. Visit your local Legion Branch to learn how you can be a part of it!
